The technique of playing with words in such a way as saying silently or verbally a statement to our self is commonly said to be affirmations. In Napoleon Hill’s classic book it is known as auto-suggestion. T Harv Eker calls them Declarations. Other teachers call them other names such as incantations. I learn a new name for them as Proclaimations from my mentor Dov Baron. I only heard that this year but I like this one the most as it gives it a sense of ownership and proclaiming something as truth for me personally. I was listening to an audio yesterday of Louise Hay when she was celebrating her 80th birthday. I heard her say every word we say and every thought we think is an affirmation. Nevertheless the affirmations of harnessing our own mind power to create our reality I consider powerful when it is focussed, concentrated and repeated often. Scatterred thoughts are weak and scattered forces. Strong and concentrated thoughts are strong and concentrated forces. Consider the force of sun rays. Scattered over a piece of paper a force is ever present but maybe not so readily observed in our world. Gather a magnifying glass and harness those sun rays on one spot on the paper and you will see the power present. Those rays of sunlight when concentrated in one direction can burn a hole in that same paper. Remember this is energy at it’s most fundamental level. Similarly our thoughts are energy at it’s most fundamental level. We get to direct those thoughts and are able to harness our thoughts using our mind like a tool similar to using the magnifying glass to harness the power of sun rays.

I was just reading about affirmations in John Kehoe’s book called “Mind Power Into The 21st Century”

In his books he says “Affirmations are simple statements repeated to yourself silently or aloud, whatever feels most comfortable and practical to you at a time.”… “You decide upon a statement that represents what you want to have happen to you, and you repeat it to yourself over and over again.”

This is a habit I believe all of us with any level of interest in creating our reality can start to bring into our life more consciously. I agree with Louise Hay. I’m sure we are affirming truths to ourself all the time. The challenge is we do most of these unconsciously and may have many disempowering affirmations and rarely do we take the time to focus on consciously directing our mind to affirm a positive empowering statement for ourself. Listen to the conversation of a stranger or friend and observe how many affirmation a person says to themselves subtlely within 5 minutes. We humans can be amazing how asleep we are to the power of our own words. They can cause us harm or help.

When done consciously affirmations give our mind something to focus on for our own benefit. As John Kehoe writes in his book “Your mind can hold only one thought at a time, so an affirmation works by “filling” your mind with thoughts that support your goal.”

An affirmation sculpted well, in the process of affirming, your mind ” effortlessly picks up the implications and message of your affirmation”

I highlighted a few things John Kehoe advises in his book to remember when doing affirmations.

” Don’t worry about believing, just keep repeating.”

I think his point here is like the Nike slogan.. Just Do It!
The believability factor is not needed to be there in the beginning.
Getting started is what matters. Improve on believability can be worked on once you atleast have begun in direction of your desires.

“The conscious mind will quite naturally pick up the content of whatever you are affirming and the correct thoughts will seep into your consciousness. You don’t have to force anything”

His second point I highlited was “Always affrim in the positive. Make a positive statement, not a negative one”
I want to get into this one quite a bit here.
His point here is when sculpting afftirmations go for the way that gives an image in your mind directly going for what you have as desired outcome. Using words like “Not” and “Do Not” are not part of consciously designed affirmations.
Meaning, an affirmation that you desire to bring you more relaxation and calmness is sculpted in a way that gives the mind only possibility of seeing images that represent this to ourself when saying the affirmation. A good example is in John Kehoe’s book of an affirmation sculpted the incorrect way would be “I’m not going to be uptight”
You actually want the affirmation sculpted in a way that directs the mind *towards* images of what you want rather than the indirect manner of moving away from what you do not want. Comparative use of words to get you away from what you do not want in the hope of getting what you want is not how our more powerful subconscious mind powers work effectively. If your desire is to feel relaxed and calm then create an affirmation that direct the mind *towards* this.. “I feel relaxed and calm” would be a good simple one rather than “I’m not goiing to be uptight”.. the important thing to get here is be directly *towards* what you desire with your affrimations… do not make the mistake of using affirmations that are moving you away from what you do not want. Give your mind the job of focussing *towards your desires*. Using affirmations in a comparatives sense is not a good way to use affirmations. Directly *for* your desired outcome is the best way to use affirmations.

John Kehoe’s third main point I highlited was: “Keep your affirmation short. An affirmation should be like a mantra: short and simple, easy to say and easy to repeat. I like to keep my affirmations to ten words or less.”

My personal suggestion is it is alright when designing your affirmation getting clear on what you want to write down lots of words but when it comes to actually using them as a habit to say to oneself find as few as words as possible to represent to yourself personally the essence of what you want to imprint into your own being. Fine tune it and make the affirmation you are actually going to use conscise and meaningful to you personally. This might take some work but you are worth it, right ? If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well!

Finally on this point John Kehoe writes “Repetition is what will imprint your affirmation into your consciousness, so the shorter the better. I repeat: make it short, make it rhythmic, make it easy to say.”

Hope my bit of sharing in this blog on affirmations is helpful.
take care and create a great weekend.
You are worth it!

This is a mind power technique taught by John Kehoe.

This technique is taught with the analogy of our mind like a garden.

If we plant seeds in a garden and nurture them we expect them to grow.
If we neglect a garden, weeds can also grow.
Hence cultivating our mind like a garden tends to lead towards harvesting more of that which we like to see show up in our life.
We reap what we sow is what this is all about.

The seeding technique is really honing in on the feelings of that which we wish to experience with whatever we chosen to manifest.

The idea of this technique is to focus on the feelings by claiming in our inner world what we are deciding is for us to manifest in our life.

Where the visualization technique hones in on the images to see on the inner screen of our mind, the seeding technique hones on the feelings and very importantly to feel those feelings in the now, we seed with those feelings of already having it. This means working or playing in the feeling of emotions of that we have chosen as our outcome. We go with the feelings of having it. It is already happened so playing out the type of emotions of joy and happiness that reflect having achieved the dream or goal.

As John Kehoe writes in his book

“Whatever your personal reaction, feel it in your guts and make those feelings a part of you. Live in the certainty that you already have the thing that you want.”

This is in essence claiming it in our inner world first.
This goes to the heart of understanding that all manifesting is born with the inner world. This is the field the creation process starts and the outer world reflects what has been nurtured , nourished and tended to with feeling and repitition. When we cultivate the garden of our mind in this way then growth takes place and results produced just like a harvest. Whether we neglect or cultivate in this field of ours, the inner world must and will bring forth results in our life. Are they what we really want ?

What seeds are we planting in our inner world ?

John Kehoe suggest we have seeding technique be part of our mind power practices and it is a five-minute burst of energy that we create for ourself regularly.

I played with this technique myself tonight before I typed this blog entry out. I followed what John Kehoe writes about this technique because I had not been feeling as connected or effective with my own mind powers when I been working with the visualization techniques in recent times. In his book John explains that :
“Unlike visualization, in seeding you are primarily concerned with the feeling of whatever it is you are visualizing.”

This is how I approached the focus of my 5 minutes of working with my inner world. I was honing in on the feelings and at moments visuals would consciously be in my mind but the focus for me was the feelings and whatever images happened were a by-product of what I was feeling.

To sum up this technique John Kehoe says ” Regularly seed the feeling that you already have whatever it is that you want. It’s yours. Live it. Vibrate with it. Exalt and thrill with it. Claim it, absolutely as yours. Take possession of it in the inner world. “

I hope you enjoy playing with this tool in the fertile soil of your own mind.
May you reap a bountiful harvest in your outer world.

This is a really interesting post for me to add after previous post about visualization technique in John Kehoe’s book. Personally I’ve certainly being going through a stage in my life where I don’t seem to be manifesting outcomes, things and events that I have my heart set on.
What I mean by that is I truly believe we all manifest our lives from moment to moment so I’m manifesting events and stuff in my life and I still manifest things I want but what I have *not* been manifesting for myself in my life is things of great significance and deep meaning to me like any big desires of mine.

I’m sure everyone has these times in life where nothing of importance to them seems to be working out even when we think to ourself we put our heart and soul into our efforts. I’ve been working with visualization technique recently quite diligently however for whatever reason my visuals have just not been flowing easy to me and I have not been feeling successful in connecting to the emotions I know I want to feel that can fuel our mind powers to attract ourself and our desires to be into our life.

I sense this is a reflection that I got personal stuff going on within me swimming around on emotional level as a reaction to events unfolding in my life in 2006 that really upset and saddened me. I won’t go into that here as I don’t feel blogs on general internet is an environment to be going into personal issues that can feel sensitivity to. But what I will say is that in reaction to those undesired events in 2006 my ego mind did a number on me I’m presently not finding easy to emotionally shrug off.

When I been intending to be visualizing achieving important dreams to me I actually been finding connecting with enjoyable emotions very fleeting and get frustrated and connecting with upsetting emotions seems so much easier. This to me is not successfully using the visualization technique with the mind. I’m atleast aware enough to recognise my present mind associates undesired feelings of 2006 to personal goals I want to see achieved going forward in my life.

So what do you do when things don’t seem to be going your way in life and you know what dreams you have but don’t seem to making progress towards them ?

I guess you can give up on your dreams and talk yourself into settling for what you got. Fool yourself that your life is as good as you can expect and put your attention into things to forget you even had your dreams. It is an option.

Personally I feel this is what most people do in life. I find it disturbingly the norm in society. There is plenty on offer to distract us and even have lots of good times. Watching or doing things that are escapism from being true to our own heart and deepest desires and numb us to our spirit. We can all name a few I bet.

The other option I see is to really stay awake to our dreams. Dig in , do some soul searching if needed and believe in our dreams for our real life.
Get real with ourself and face our own internal issues, deal with personal stuff or external obstacles that seem to be in the way of living our deams.

That is what I intend to do. The choice seems simple even if not easy. The thought of giving up on our dreams and settling for less just seems a disturbing option of how to use the gift of life we all have now. I don’t want any part of that.

I am personally feeling kind of shipwrecked emotionally and financially right now in my life. Bit like being on an island and not knowing how to get off. That is where I am in my personal reality in relation to what I want to experience and achieve in my life. I like to be real with myself. I’m unsure how to find my way out of here but I am committed to finding a way even if I can not see a way for me right at present.

I just think life is too precious to give up on our dreams. The option of just giving up finding a way to my own dreams I just won’t buy into. It’s not the way I want to live my life. It’s not in the spirit of why I even choose to do this blog.

I love this art of manifesting our lives even when it does not seem to be coming easy to me. Certainly I had times where manifesting felt easier to me to manifest some past goals that would not seem easy.

So I want to share this next technique of mind powers John Kehoe writes about in his book. It is called the seeding technique. This to me is actually where I pin point what I have not been doing well recently in my mind power practices. I will go into more details in next posting but for now I will leave you with how John Kehoe relates it to previous technique of visualization.

“If visualization is creating scenes or pictures in your own movie, then seeding is like adding the sound track, only instead of adding words you are adding the feelings that accompany the pictures.”

In previous post I described what John Kehoe explains the technique of visualization is in relation to our mind powers.

Here I will share what I learn from his book is the way to go about this visualization technique.

The very first aspect is simply deciding what we want to do.
That is, have a clear outcome we wish to be part of our life.

Decide what that is for us.
This is actually very important because in general a lot of us humans are very good at getting clear what we do not want or what we are against in life. However, giving real focussed attention on what we really desire that is ideal to our mind and dear to our heart is worth giving much more of our conscious attention to. Maybe in society in general this is something we can all get much better at. I certainly think and feel so.

So once we’ve picked a clear outcome we desire to see in our life the next important element is to relax our own mind in readiness to remove all distractions and give our concentrated attention to what we intend to see on that inner screen of our own mind.

Once we are comfortable in body and mind then we direct our thoughts to see the images that represent to us the outcome we desire taking place in our life. We spend a concentrated period of say 5 to 10 minutes where we linger on thoughts of doing and having the thing we desire in our own life. We live in this as an experience right now entering into the role in the detail we see as being real to us and become what we would be as we are experiencing it happening in our life.

Now doing this once is like creating an energetic calibration for our own mind and beingness to know the blueprints to experience this in our own life. Doing this more than once gives more power to what we put our mind to work on. As John Kehoe says in his book:

“the mental pictures we indulge in, the ones we regularly think about, become a blueprint for our goals, a mold into which we pour our energy. These pictures are real forces that will work for us.”

I like to point out at this stage he is talking about consciously being in process of creating things we like to see happen in our life. Let there be no doubt that if we give our attention and energy to unconsciously imaging scenarios happening in our life we fear seeing unfold or would hate to see happen that is also the very same technique but that is when we would be having our mind not serving us well.

Visualization is still visualization whether it is seeing mental pictures of what we desire or what we might fear or worry about.

Practicing getting better at this technique for what we desire is the aim here.

John Kehoe also describes we can have two forms of visualization.
One he calls precise visualization where we know the exact scenes of what we desire to see happen in our life and running them through our mind much like a preset script.

The other form is what he calls free-flowing visualization is which we allow images to come and go in our mind without choosing them directly. We allow to be shown on inner screen of our mind the outcome we desire to see unfold in our life. We live in the experience and let the visions come to us as our thoughts linger in being in the experience.

The key thing to successful visualization as John Kehoe prescribes is practice every day just like a committed and elite olympic athlete practices in their chosen field of sport.

As John Kehoe says “results come when the image is imprinted again and again and again….any thought put into our mind, and nourished regularly, will produce results in your life…. any image held in the mind is a force that will eventually produce an effect”

I like to finish of this blog entry by saying that in John Kehoe book he is not suggesting this is like magic wand and thought by itself will make the outcome happen.
There is a real force here whenever we are imaging with our thoughts, yes indeed. Energy is clearly at play, that is a definite role in forming our reality.
However, what I understand of this process is this technique attracts and leads to situations and opportunities coming our way that will *lead* us to our desired outcome. We still have to be actively involved in being and doing the behaviour and actions that are congruent with having this desired result in our life. We cannot sit on the sidelines so to speak. We have to get in the field of our own life game and make it happen to really win on the scoreboard that counts as meaningful result in our own life. A big part of our own mind power is to take inspired action based on what we’ve set our mind on the task of seeing happen in our life and our faith and trust in our heart what can unfold in our life.

Maybe this is the subtle shift that moves a desired result we are in process of attracting to an actual result we have manifested we are living.

Take wonderful care with your inner vision and happy manifesting in your inspired actions

Before working with any mind power techniques consciously it is worth noting that in accepting that thoughts are real forces it stands to reason we’ve already been manifesting in our lives. It does not matter whether we are conscious of this or not, we still manifest our lives. The only difference with becoming aware of the power of our thoughts is now we recognize it is worth paying attention to how we think. With this awareness comes the opportunity to work more favourably with our mind by how we focus our mind more on the things we really desire to happen in our lives and minimise the reactive mode of thinking that does not serve us.

We can start to learn and develop conscious skills and techniques to create what we really want. It starts with the approach to change the way we think.
This has to be a decision we make. Whatever we desire to see unfold in our lives means developing the necessary consciousness. We have to learn to think in the way a person does that succeeds in the area of life we are wishing to experience more joy and success.

As John Kehoe says in his book on mind powers

” With work and practice you can learn to direct your thoughts and create the consciousness you choose. Your reality will change only after you’ve developed your new consciousness, not before. The new consciousness must come first. ”

There are three main techniques John Kehoe teachers of with mind powers. Those three are:

Visualization

Seeding

Affirmations

The first technique John Kehoe covers in his book is the technique of visualization.
The basics of this technique is to see on the inner screen of our mind by using the faculty of our imagination. To see ourselves in a situation that hasn’t yet happened, picturing ourself having or doing the thing we want and successfully achieving the results we desire. Visualizing everything that would or could happen to us and live as if it is really is happening to us.

In the next blog entry I will explain John Kehoe’s description of how to go about successfully using this technique.

I finished my previous blog posting with everything is not as it seems.

When I first started to digest intellectually that our own minds have such a major role in how we experience our life and reality itself it is a lot to let sink into me. It meant that I could no longer look at the world I see through my 5 physical senses as being in fact, reality itself.

Sure, it seems that reality of our physical world is where we best focus our attention. We are generally conditioned to de-value our imagination or day dreaming as these are often said to be *not real*.
Stop dreaming, get real! This basic message is drummed into us in various ways as we grow from children into adults.

We are often conditioned to be biased that the only reality is the one of our 5 senses.

This new information I was learning of mind powers was suggesting to me everything was not as it seemed. There was more to our thoughts and mind we would be best to examine because, if indeed the energy of our inner world of thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and emotions is having a role in how our 5 sense reality is both perceived and unfolds, then maybe it would be best I find a new way to think of reality itself that places much more value on that inner world we all are gifted with from birth.

It seems to me the common factor to the physical world and consciousness of our mind is energy. This changed me. Thoughts are in fact something to pay more attention to. There is energy at play here with our thoughts. An ability we have that can learn to tap into more and develop if we take the time to work with our gift of free will to think in our own way.

My definition of reality was never the same after beginnning to learn of mind powers. The potential to learn how to use this new knowledge awakens so many possibilities it can actually take time to just focus on exactly what to use if for specifically.

Towards the end of chapter one in Mind Power Into The 21st Century I highlited the main awakening for me that become apparent when I realized with our own consciousness we are constantly interacting and indeed impacting with how reality unfolds in our world.

” …..we can choose to live more creatively and powerfully. We need no longer stand on the sidelines watching things happen to us, for with our new understanding we now realize that there are no sidelines to stand on, nor were there ever. “

In chapter two John Kehoe describes what I found for myself is wonderful way to integrate this new knowledge into how I bring this new awakening to my everyday world. It is this….to think of our thoughts

“as a reality existing side by side with what we call the *physical reality* “

He proposes a model where we see ourselves living simultaneously in two worlds, two realites and understanding the unique relationship between the two:

“the inner reality of your thoughts, emotions and attitudes, and the outer reality of people, places, things and events.”

He explains that we generally are conditioned to

“allow ourselves to become dominated by the Outer world of appearances, and we use the Inner world solely as a “mirror” for whatever happens to us.”

This is our societal conditioning to think and feel things just happen to us and simply reacting to our Outer world and thereby never realizing that our Inner world can be used creatively and powerfully to be pro-active and begin changing our reality from the inside out.

When, or if we start to realize the power of our free will to choose, then life has a whole new feel. To recognize that change begins from within when we consciously manage what we allow to be going on in our Inner world then we get the opportunity to approach life with a new found zest.

Getting excited with a new feel for life and potential for change is one thing. These concepts are in fact quite simple to grasp intellectually. Where the rubber meets the road so to speak, and taking it further is in using and applying these concepts into our life. Making our life work means learning how to develop and use skills to work with our mind so the potential and hope these concepts can awaken in us, can move from being dreams to becoming results experienced for the better in our own life. That is the challenge. To actually experiment with these concepts in our life and develop skills and techniques that work for us.

The foundational skills and techniques to begin practicing our mind powers more consciously in our life is the next area to study and apply.
The next few chapters of the John Kehoes book covers the basics and I will be sharing some of this is my next blog entry.

Recently I finished a book by author John Kehoe called “A Vision of Power and Glory”

A really inspiring book and one I will use as a spiritual guide to me for my own path. However it is an earlier book by the author I wish to give some focus to on this blog.

When I first started learning about concepts of mind power and directing our own life more consciously it was the type of concepts and techniques in this book that opened me up to seeing a whole new view of reality.

Before going into a study of this book in my blog I want to back track a bit because the book was created after I first started learning of the concepts of mind powers.

One day in my first year out of school I just started becoming more curious about life and questioning the way most of us people live life by approaching in a way to follow what most other people do because that is just what is the norm. Although we still do them with our own unique mannerisms and quirks of personality in general we grow up, goto the education environments and conditioned to have certain expectations. That curiousity and wonder of life and reality beyond the conditioning is what lead me to attend a course called Mind Powers.

I attended a course of four lectures spread a week apart which taught on concepts of foundational mind powers and the main techniques to harness the power of our free will to choose our own thoughts and direct them to be focussed on things we would like to see happen in our life.

This course was taught by an Australian named Kerry Riley but the orginal founder of that work the course was based on was his friend and associate John Kehoe. The book I am going to be focussing on in my blog for awhile is based on that pioneering work of John Kehoe.

Between the lectures I attended there was home work set to work with techniques and develop mind power skills and use our own daily life to experiment with. It was a great course and really gave me some strong foundational mind powers. Some of them I probably take for granted because they are second nature to me now but there is still much to practice to consider myself a master of my own mind and creating everything I wish to see in my life. Recently I was re-visiting some notes from my last couple of lectures and see there is still much I have not fully integrated into my life. Just stuff I learned once that completely forgetten about.

So this book I am going to focus on now is called “Mind Power Into The 21st Century” and is written by the same pioneer that created the course I attended and developed many of my foundational mind power skills that I still strive to master as a practice.

I’m sure going through this book in this blog will aid my own development further and hopefully what I share is of help to you too.

The first chapter of the book is called “Another View of Reality”. In this chapter John Kehoe sets us up with the idea the nobody wanting to learn to use mind powers needs to fully understand law of physics or how reality manifest itself.

However taking a little time examining the nature of reality can give us help to understand that the mind does play an important role in the reality we experience as our daily lives.

Most people recognise that whether it is solid matter or less visible stuff like electricty and the communication signals that allow our tv’s and mobile phones to work, that there is a fundamental stuff to all these things. That fundamental stuff is Energy.
You don’t need to study quantum physics to recognise this truth. Even the food or drinks we consume and our body functions is energy at work in some way, shape or form. John Kehoe invites us to take another view of reality beyond just our physical senses:

“Reality is fluid. Nothing is fixed. Everything is part of a pattern that is in constant motion; even a rock is a dance of energy. The universe is dynamic and alive and we are in it and of it, dynamic and alive ourselves.”

That notion that we are in it and of it, to me is like a fish being in the ocean and if a fish could think and we could ask it a question what water is , the water would be such deeply embedded nature of the reality for a fish’s world that it would probably not even understand the question. Maybe consciousness for us humans is a little like water is for the reality of a fish.

In our reality of our daily lives do we ever give much wonder to just what our mind and thoughts are? or are they just something so embedded in what we *do* that we don’t even question the very role of our mind, in the nature of our own reality ?

So just what is reality to you ? Is it the material world, the intangibles of situations and events of our relationships ? Are some things more real than others?

For me I tend to think there is much in general day of going about our lives we don’t question fundamental aspects of our world we are living in and of.

In John Kehoe’s book he suggests the very nature of our universe is holographic and even the physical organ of the brain operates in a holographic nature. The concept of a hologram is explained as being “an entity in which “the whole” is contained in each and every one of it’s parts.”

For me when I first heard that concept it resonated as a strong truth to me because everything I think about or detect with my senses has energy patterns. It seems fundamentally true that beyond our senses there is a basis of our reality that forms from energy. That “whole” is contained in each and every one of it’s parts. To me this meant reality of our everyday senses would be silly to be biased thinking that this is in fact reality itself for me. There was so much more… like the invisible things that my usual 5 senses could not detect… our very thoughts and feeling. Surely to me these are just as much a part of reality as the solid material things in my everyday world ?

This is where I begun my journey into pondering on life and what we do each day. Reality to me had a different meaning when I first learnt of our mind powers. It was another view of reality. Everything was not as it seemed….to be continued
